模擬国連

今年度も「立命館宇治中学校・高等学校模擬国連大会」に本コースの中高生9人が参加致しました。毎年、準備段階から活気に溢れ、情熱がほとばしる素晴らしい大会です。今年度は参加者数も最大となり、slackやオンラインの事前準備を経て、多様な背景を持つ中・高生が立命館大学BKCキャンパスにて一堂に介しました。参加校は、関西圏のみならず、九州・四国地方、また首都圏からも本校を含めて数校の参加がありました。

ヨハネ研究の森コースでは、「模擬国連」は一部の参加者だけでなく、研究員と主任研究員が一体となり、全員で事前の研究活動を行います。数年間継続してきた中で、ヨハネ生にとって世界の問題も自分ごととして捉える風土が醸成されています。喜ばしいことに、模擬国連の経験を経て、グローバルな課題をより深く、広く専門的に学ぶために大学に進学する卒業生も増えて参りました。これからも、世界を見る目と、学校生活、そして自身の成長に生かそうという機運を大切にしていきたいと思います。

今回は、事前準備の段階から積極的に参加し、共に学び合う姿勢を評価していただき、“Most outstanding delegate”を受賞したヨハネ生によるレポートをご紹介いたします。

I participated in the Ritsumeikan Uji Model United Nations (Rits-MUN) 2025. But in order to understand what happened, let’s have a brief overview of Model UN.

Model United Nations (contracted as ‘MUN’ or ‘Model UN’) is, simply put, a role-playing of the actual United Nations. Participants act as ambassadors representing a specific country. They must examine the status quo at both the national and international levels, as well as government policy. What’s interesting about this is that delegates have to represent their governments, no matter what their opinions are. This allows participants to view the world from a perspective they have not previously experienced.

I participated in Rits-MUN as the delegate for Denmark. I researched Denmark’s positions on SDG 5 and successfully formed a majority coalition to draft an amendment. We also secured the support of the opposing minority coalition and passed the final amendment with near-unanimous approval.

I was extremely glad that I was able to prepare for this event in St John’s. Without the support of teachers and fellow students, this political masterpiece (Yes, I know this sounds like self-praise) would never have been possible. The participation and discussions with students from other schools further enabled this. I would like to thank all of you who helped with this grand project.

素晴らしい大会を主催していただいた立命館宇治中学校・高等学校の先生方、そして運営を担われた生徒の皆々様に心より感謝申し上げます。また、全国各地から集い、共に創り上げてくださったすべての参加者にも感謝します。
